Mary Blatherwick is a professor of visual art and creative education at the University of New Brunswick. As an artist, Mary explores the fleeting and powerful motion found in the natural elements around her.
“I search for what is essential in nature, observing the subtle relationships of colors, textures and forms that connect in seemingly random but often surprisingly meaningful and metaphorical ways. The latest series of images deals with slow motion and the phenomenon of ‘drift’ experienced through forms moving across the sky, sea and land. These images ultimately draw attention to the interconnected and fleeting nature of the world around us.”
The opening reception of Mary’s art exhibit “Limitless” will be held at ArtCan Gallery on Saturday, July. 10th, 7 pm – 9 pm.
