Ron Hayes has a wealth of experience in both teaching and creating art gained over his extensive and diverse career. Exhibiting for over 40 years has allowed him the freedom to work in many styles and experiment with a plethora of materials and mediums. This knowledge to create novel and distinct effects in his work gives him the expertise to guide the aspiring artist at the most technical level.
Academically, Ron has a Master of Arts from The European Graduate School with a minor in psychology. He has worked in the past as an expressive art therapist in Toronto and now uses this training to help new students to overcome their fears and difficulties while exploring art.
ArtCan was created in Canning, Nova Scotia in 2000 as a place to create and exhibit art. It is a welcoming place. Ron currently sits as Faculty at Acadia University where he teaches elective courses in drawing and painting. He has taught courses in adult continuing education for Acadia Lifelong Learning.
Ron’s academic background and years of experience are complimentary attributes that allow him to transfer his knowledge to both amateur and professional artists alike. Currently, he is working primarily with oil paint exploring the local landscape of Nova Scotia from which he draws inspiration. Ron always travels with his set of watercolours having painted in over 20 countries around the world. His work has been shown in Canada, the USA, and Switzerland.
